General Joseph F. Dunford Jr. (Ret.)

Special Advisor

General Joe Dunford serves as a Senior Managing Director for Liberty Strategic Capital and as a member of the firm’s investment Committee. He previously served as the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer. In this role, he was the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council from 2015 to 2019.

General Dunford was commissioned in 1977 and served as an infantry officer at all levels, to include commanding the 5th Marine Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps and Commander of all U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

General Dunford graduated from Boston College High School and Saint Michael's College. He also earned master’s degrees in Government from Georgetown University and in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Semper Fi Fund & America’s Fund which supports our wounded, ill, and injured active duty personnel and veterans from all services. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Adams Presidential Center. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Lockheed Martin Corporation, Bessemer Securities, the Travis Manion Foundation, and Georgetown University.

Chris Sultemeier

Special Advisor

Chris retired from Walmart in April of 2017 after a 28 year career with the Retailer.  Chris spent the majority of his time in the Supply Chain Division while serving as the EVP of Logistics and CEO of Walmart Transportation, LLC for the last 6 years of his career.During his tenure, Chris had a chance to see the company grow from $25B to almost $500B, the introduction of food to the offering and the start of the Online Business.

During his time, the logistic network grew from 15 buildings to over 200 and the number of associate in the division grew from 12,000 to over 100,000 in the US and almost 40,000 internationally. The Walmart Logistics Division was continually recognized as the premier retail logistics organization and the Walmart Private Fleet recognized as the best in the industry.

Chris has served on the Boards of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for Northwest Arkansas and the University of Arkansas Supply Chain Center where he was Chairman for a number of years. He has served on the Board of Duke Realty (DRE), and currently serves on the board of Yellow Freight (YELL) and Logistics Innovation Technologies (LITTU) and several private companies including Platform Science. Chris also teaches in the Transportation and Supply Chain Masters Program at MIT and serves as an Operating Partner for NewRoad Capital.

Chris graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1984. After graduation, he completed the Engineering Officer Basic Course and Army Airborne and Ranger Schools. Chris served as a Combat Engineer Officer with the 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division.

Major General Clayton M. Hutmacher (Ret.)

Special Advisor

Clay Hutmacher became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in September 2018.

He was a career United States Army Officer and retired in 2018 having served over 40 years in uniform. As an Army Special Operations Aviator, he commanded at every level during his three tours with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, where he served as the MH-60 Direct Action Penetrator platoon leader, company operations officer, executive officer and commander of 1st Battalion, Regimental Commander, and the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command.

Major General Hutmacher's last active duty assignment was the Director of Operations in the U.S. Special Operation Command, Tampa, FL. His previous assignment was as the deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC.

A native of Wenatchee, Washington, he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval Command and Staff College, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
